Mikaël Kingsbury obtains a gold medal in moguls in parallel

Quebecer Mikaël Kingsbury won the gold medal in the moguls event in parallel with the Freestyle Skiing World Cup held on Saturday at Alpe d’Huez.

In the grand final, Kingsbury defeated Sweden’s Walter Wallberg.

For Kingsbury, it is a 97th podium and a 68th victory in 116 career World Cup starts. So far this season, Kingsbury has three gold medals, including two in as many parallel mogul attempts.

In addition, Quebecers Gabriel Dufresne and Elliot Vaillancourt were eliminated at the end of the round of 16.

In the women’s category, Justine Dufour-Lapointe took sixth place in the parallel moguls event. In the quarter-finals, she lost to the American Jaelin Kauf.

Her compatriot Maia Schwinghammer placed eighth. Sofiane Gagnon finished 11th, Berkley Brown 22nd and Chloé Dufour-Lapointe, 24th.
