Thousands of migrants are stranded at the border between Belarus and Poland. Originating mostly from the Middle East, they are not allowed on Polish territory. Poland also intends to strengthen its military presence.
The new migrant route passes through the most dense forest in Europe. This represents 400 kilometers of border between Belarus and Poland. Every day, we discover the traces of the passage of several hundred people. These camps, abandoned in haste, are the symbol of a wandering of several days and several nights, in inhuman conditions according to the NGOs which come to the aid of these migrants.
Sometimes you have to walk for hours in the vegetation to find migrants at the end of their rope. The latter are chased by border guards. “The border guards did not give us any food or water”, confide migrants, who say they are Iraqis. The latter claim to be victims of persecution in their country as homosexuals. The Polish authorities count here up to 900 attempts of passage per day. Only the more weakened are allowed to enter.
A family Iraqi Kurdish, with a sick child, was thus placed in solitary confinement in a center for the homeless. The father tells about the sinister immigration network promoted on social networks by the Belarusian dictatorship. Thus, the flights to reach Minsk, the capital, cost 300 euros. through anybody. The migrants are then subjected to a forced transfer to the border. For Belarus, migrants are a weapon in responding to European Union sanctions. Poland is therefore uncompromising, and has declared a state of emergency all along its border.
