In the United Kingdom, the bill to deport migrants to Rwanda returns to the House of Commons. The British are divided on the issue.
Will the UK soon deport its asylum seekers to Rwanda? The British government hopes to have the first planes in the air before the end of spring. The objective: to deter illegal Channel crossings. But this controversial project is still debated in Parliament and in the streets. “If we don’t stop illegal crossings, people will die. Everything is good to stop this. Rwanda is not such a bad place.”confides a man.
“Our country should learn to welcome people”
“The idea of sending people to Rwanda is completely ridiculous and unfair. Our country should learn to welcome people”specifies a woman. “The British are struggling to feed themselves or keep a roof over their heads, I don’t know if we can afford to take these people in, but sending them to another country that probably can’t take care of them and they don’t speak the language, that doesn’t seem fair to me.”indicates a second woman.
