In order to reach England at all costs, migrants are taking more and more risks. A few days ago, a seven-year-old girl drowned in the Aa canal when her canoe capsized.

Sunday March 3, a seven-year-old girl drowned in the Aa canal, in the North, when a boat of migrants who were trying to reach England capsized. To avoid controls on the beaches, they are increasingly deciding to leave the land via the rivers in the north. But the crossing is very risky, even still in the river which has many very busy and dangerous locks.

Floating booms

On Sunday, the overloaded boat overturned thirty kilometers from the coast. To combat the departure of migrants from the land, the prefectures have decided to install floating dams. Not all local residents are convinced by this system. “If they don’t pass here, they will pass elsewhere”estimates one of them.
