Midterm elections: Trump is already questioning results that do not yet exist

The evening has only just begun, but already Donald Trump is repeating the same refrain as in 2016 and 2020: “Rigged Elections”.

This is at least what emerges from the activity of the ex-president on his Truth Social platform.

Indeed, since the middle of the afternoon and as the Americans begin to intensify their presence in the polling stations, Donald Trump has decided to resume a large part of the conspiratorial discourse devoted to the American electoral process.

Some observers wonder if he is doing this to perhaps compensate for the probable Republican defeats in certain states such as Arizona or Michigan.

Donald Trump’s “conspi” enfilade thus began shortly after dinner time.

The former host of the show The Apprentice then claimed that electronic voting machines would not work properly in majority Republican precincts in Arizona.

This assertion is incorrect. It is even a cover of one of the most prominent conspiracy theories of the American far right.

For some, the electoral machines would be rigged. Personalities of this movement, such as Mike Lindell, owner of the company My Pillow and notorious conspiracy theorist, have even argued that the voting machines would not work, because they would have acquired a conscience against Donald Trump.

Then Trump went after it again by way of counting the vote in Pennsylvania.

As a reminder, Pennsylvania may take several days to validate the results due to verifications and subsequent counting at the close of the polls on Election Day of the advance polls.

This same conspiracy theory had given rise to an important moment in the transition period between the Trump and Biden administrations: the press conference of Rudy Giulani, ex-mayor of New York and pro-Trump, in front of a warehouse of a company of landscaping in suburban Philadelphia.

Finally, Trump attacked advance polls in Detroit and Michigan.

Advance voting is overwhelmingly Democratic in the United States. In states like Michigan, he can also come from the black population, a population that the pro-Trump people are all doing to deny him the right to vote.

The results of the midterm elections are expected to be released this evening. If the Republican Party is favorite to win, Donald Trump has decided to resume his greatest successes.
