Midi-Pyrenees firefighters organize a convoy of donations for Ukrainians

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, precisely at 1:30 a.m., a convoy of firefighters will leave Rouffiac-Tolosan, north-east of Toulouse to deliver donations collected by the departmental fire and rescue services (SDIS), the departmental unions and the regional union of firefighters, as well as the associations of the fire and rescue centers of Haute-Garonne, Ariège and Aveyron.

Seven firefighters on the road

After several weeks of collecting, three vehicles including two trucks loaded with priority products recommended by the Ukrainian Embassy in Paris and the Civil Protection (hygiene, childcare products, medicines, etc.) will leave the Rouffiac-Tolosan fire and rescue center in the direction of Médyka in Poland , border town with Ukraine.

The mission was carried out in partnership with the transport companies Jimenez and JEBS Group (Cornebarrieu, Haute-Garonne), the Leclerc shopping center in Rouffiac-Tolosan, the Esquirol pharmacy in Toulouse, the town hall of Rouffiac-Tolosan, the national mutual of firefighters (MNSP), the organization of road transport SMEs (OTRE) and the company Plastimage in Narbonne.

To lead this detachment, five firefighters, a retired firefighter and administrative staff. They will cover more than 2,400 kilometers, with a first stage in Strasbourg and another in Poland. In Médyka, an NGO of firefighters from France welcome them. This approach is part of the “Peace firefighters” mission carried out by the national federation of firefighters in France.
