Over the next two years, Microsoft will invest $500 million US (approximately $687 million Canadian) in the expansion of its large-scale cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Quebec.
Future data centers will be added to the data center that Microsoft opened in Quebec in 2016.
The expansion includes an increase in Microsoft’s computing capacity by approximately 240% over the next 3 years.
“Today’s announcement leverages the considerable investments Microsoft has made in Quebec and is just the latest example of our deep commitment to the Quebec territory,” said Chris Barry, President of Microsoft Canada.
