The German driver Mick Schumacher (23), son of Michael Schumacher, was the victim, on Saturday March 26, of a very violent exit from the track during qualifying for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia, on the Jeddah circuit. . Consequently, he will not start the Grand Prix on Sunday.

Mick Schumacher lost control of his car in a series of fast turns and hit the wall bordering the track, head-on, at high speed. The session was interrupted by a red flag before resuming more than an hour late.

An ambulance immediately went to the scene of the accident. His condition does not inspire, a priori, any particular concern. “We heard Mick was conscious, exited his vehicle and was being directed to a medical facility”, tweeted his Hass team shortly after the crash. A little later in the evening, his team once again communicated, confirming the withdrawal of their German driver: “After an initial examination revealed no injuries, Schumacher was transferred to King Fahad Military Hospital in Jeddah for precautionary checks. The team therefore made the decision to only participate in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with the only entry of Kevin Magnussen.“.
