(Oxford Township) Authorities say a 15-year-old student opened fire at his Michigan high school, killing three other students and injuring six others, including a teacher.
Oakland County Deputy Sheriff Mike McCabe told a news conference he did not know what the assailant’s motives were for Tuesday afternoon’s attack on Township High School. ‘Oxford, a community of about 22,000 people about 50 kilometers north of Detroit.
Authorities arrested the suspect at school and recovered a handgun. They did not immediately disclose the names of the suspect or the victims.
The police responded at around 12:55 p.m. to a report of an active shooter at the school.
A medical helicopter landed shortly after 2 p.m. in the school parking lot.
A perimeter was established, with some students taking shelter in locked classrooms while officers searched the premises. They were then escorted to a nearby grocery store to be reunited with their parents.
