(Washington) Alberta Premier Jason Kenney is urging the US government to convince Michigan to drop its legal campaign against Enbridge’s Line 5.

He also floats the idea of a new bilateral pipeline project to help Canada and the United States establish energy security.
Mr. Kenney testified Tuesday before members of the US Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
He noted Alberta’s disdain for the United States to look to countries like Saudi Arabia, instead of his province, to meet its energy needs.
Mr. Kenney is before a friendly audience: In their opening remarks, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin and Republican Sen. John Barrasso attacked President Joe Biden’s decision to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline expansion.
For his part, federal Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson, addressing the audience via video, urged senators to embrace the idea of a Canada-US “powerhouse”.
