Cartoonist Michel Rabagliati, filmmaker Mireille Dansereau and former journalist Alain Saulnier are among the 16 personalities to whom the government will award one of the Prix du Québec at the end of the month, which each year highlights the career of Quebecers of exception who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields.
Among the list of laureates, we also find the scientist Michel Chrétien, incidentally brother of former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, and above all a world authority in endocrinology, the medical discipline that studies hormones.
Other great researchers are also among the recipients, such as the neurobiologist Yves De Koninck or the sociologist Gérard Duhaime, recognized for his work on the living conditions of Aboriginal people.
The emerging scientist prize will be awarded to Bertrand Routy, researcher in oncology, who will receive a $10,000 scholarship for the occasion.
The other winners are awarded a scholarship of $30,000. The awards ceremony will take place in Quebec City on November 30.
The Prix du Québec have existed since 1977 and each year reward “the exceptional career of people who contribute to the development of their field of activity, push back the limits of knowledge and make Québec shine nationally and internationally”.
