He must spare his heart as much as possible! As he revealed with regret and bitterness to our colleagues at TVMAG in an interview to be published this Sunday, January 6, 2024, Michel Drucker reveals that he will ultimately not present the daily talk What Games!, which will be scheduled every day on the sidelines of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and which will return to the journey of our French athletes in biathlon, swimming or even fencing and judo. The host’s cardiologists Roll on Sundaywhich already ensures weekly filming set for Wednesday, do not want it to take on daily filming in addition to the latter, for two weeks: “My cardiologists don’t want me to do this every day because I’ve come from a long way away. It’s a talk broadcast from July 26 to August 11 around 11 p.m., it’s considerable! Me, I go to bed very early and I always have medicine to take“.
Michel Drucker wanted more than anything to participate in the France Télévisions system for the 2024 Olympic Games, the latter symbolizing his 60-year career. He actually started his career at the ORTF in 1964, during the Tokyo Olympics. The 81-year-old host, who will not be Léa Salamé’s colleague during this Olympic fortnight, will however have a role in this talk, since he will participate at least “the first two” of the show, he nevertheless insisted. News which should delight the sports department of France Télévisions, which had expressed its reluctance upon learning that a sports talk for the Olympic Games was entrusted to Léa Salamé and Michel Drucker, without any journalist from the sports pole be invited there. Near The Team, the journalist Matthieu Lartot had expressed this incomprehension : “When you are a sports journalist at France Télé, the biggest event arrives and the flagship program is not entrusted to you, of course there is frustration. We reported this to our management.”
“That I’m still here, no one can believe it”
If he is better today, and if his state of health allows him to still be able to carry out the weekly filming of his show Roll on Sunday, which he has hosted for 26 seasons, Michel Drucker is not out of the woods yet; as he was keen to point out, the host experienced major health problems, which means that he still remains on borrowed time today : “My cardiologists consider me an alien, I should no longer be here. I was life-threatening several times, I was operated on twice seriously with eight to ten hours of anesthesia each time. That I am still here, in my 82nd year, I find it hard to believe, in fact, no one can believe it“.
