Michel Cymes compares the French health system to that “in Africa”!

He is back on France 2. This Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Michel Cymes will be at the helm of a special program entitled “Health in France: the state of emergency”. A program that he will present alongside Léa Salamé. An exceptional prime time which will be punctuated by a debate between health professionals and politicians… But before that, viewers will be able to discover via a 1h20 documentary filmed throughout France the alarming situation of the French health system.

A necessary spotlight for the most popular doctor in the French audiovisual landscape. In an interview with TV Mag this Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the latter also wanted to focus on the medical deserts in France. “We are in one of the most renowned countries in the world for its health care and for its medicine, but in the documentary, we discover D systems in place which are maddening”, he answered the question “what marks you the most in the documentary? “.

And to add: “We thus see that doctors take a plane, specially chartered for them, to go from Dijon to Nevers and treat people. We have the impression that we are in Africa and that we are leaving the capital to see the Bedouins in the middle of the desert”, added Michel Cymes, “frightened” at the idea that a country as rich as France finds itself confronted with such situations…

A lack of authorization to broadcast?

As a reminder, the documentary “Health in France: the state of emergency” was initially to be offered to viewers of France 2 on January 31… Only here, at the last minute, the broadcast of this unpublished issue had been canceled by the channel’s legal department.

“Following filming in the emergency room of a hospital, we finally did not have the authorizations to broadcast. The absence of this subject unbalances our documentary. We are therefore in the process of seeing how we are going to solve this problem in order to schedule this special evening at a later date”, had explained in the wake of the public service to Puremedia. A concern that has obviously been resolved in the meantime!
