Michel Côté in three free screenings at the Modern cinema

On June 24, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, the Cinéma Moderne will offer moviegoers a chance to remember the late Michel Côté. Died on May 29, the actor, one of the most beloved and popular in Quebec, will indeed be the subject of three successive free sessions. Movies In the moonlight, The Wyoming WindAnd CRAZYwill be screened for the occasion.

First film in which Michel Côté starred, In the moonlight (1983) recounts the friendship that develops between an insomniac and melancholy albino (Côté), and a former bowling champion suffering from osteoarthritis. As it’s an André Forcier film, it’s whimsical, poetic, and completely unique. At 4:00 p.m.

Also written and directed by André Forcier, The Wyoming Wind (1994) recounts the love rivalries of a mother and her two daughters, with Michel Côté in the role of the cuckolded and desperate husband (opposite France Castel). Undoubtedly one of the author’s most beautiful feature films, if not his most beautiful. Note that André Forcier will be on hand to present his two films. At 6:30 p.m.

Finally, the “triple program” will conclude with the essential CRAZY (2005), by Jean-Marc Vallée, who also left too soon. Family chronicle full of love and music, CRAZY focuses more particularly on the difficult relationship between a teenager who finds himself gay (Marc-André Grondin), and his loving but very conservative father (Michel Côté). Undoubtedly one of the most significant films in the history of Quebec cinema. At 9:00 p.m.
