Eric Coquerel, chairman of the Finance Committee in the National Assembly and New Popular Front MP for Seine-Saint-Denis, said on franceinfo on Friday 20 September that Michel Barnier’s next government, to be announced by Sunday, is a government “reactionary, neoliberal” And “made up of losers”.
During a one-on-one meeting on Thursday, Michel Barnier proposed to Emmanuel Macron a non-definitive list of 38 ministers, according to information from franceinfo. Among them, seven portfolios are reserved for members of the former presidential majority, three full-time ministries are attributed to the Republicans. Michel Barnier also proposed two names from the ranks of the MoDem: Geneviève Darrieussecq for Health, and Jean-Noël Barrot for Foreign Affairs.
“It won’t hold”assures Eric Coquerel. “You only have to look at the atmosphere between them in the Assembly to see that it is far from being a honeymoon.”he adds.
“It’s a government of losers, reactionary, neoliberal and losers. From that point of view, it doesn’t guarantee you a majority in the National Assembly. In my opinion, I’m afraid, that they are accentuating the reactionary side of their policy to try to get the windfalls of the National Rally,” he concludes.
