He was a well-known figure on the small screen across the Channel. Michael Mosley, British TV star doctor, was found dead on the Greek island of Symi, in the Aegean Sea, where he disappeared on Thursday, a police spokesperson announced to AFP on Sunday June 9. His body was discovered by a team from Greek public broadcaster ERT, which was covering the disappearance of the 67-year-old man.
“Looking at the material he had taken”the cameraman “saw that something strange was near the fence, 50 m from the sea”told an ERT journalist on the air. “We discovered (…) that it was indeed this man (…) He was in a lying position” on the back, said the journalist.
“This is the body of the journalist we have been looking for for several days”, for his part confirmed the mayor of Symi, Lefteris Papakalodoukas, who was with the television team. The Greek authorities announced on Friday that they were intensifying their searches, for the third day in a row, in an attempt to find this 67-year-old doctor, known for his appearances on TV shows. His wife, Clare Bailey, had informed the police of the disappearance of Michael Mosley, who had gone for a walk alone. Local police officially announced his disappearance on Thursday morning and firefighters sent a helicopter to help with the search. The area where the presenter disappeared is considered “difficult because it is quite rocky”the mayor of Symi emphasized on Thursday, according to the Greek daily Kathimerini.
