Michael Massey hit a two-run homer and the Kansas City Royals defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 on Tuesday.
Bobby Witt and Vinnie Pasquantino added single-run doubles in the eighth for the Royals, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Cole Ragans (2-2) struck out nine batters, allowing one run and four hits in 6 2/3 innings.
John Schreiber worked in the seventh and eighth, while James McArthur had a seventh save.
Toronto’s run came on a Bo Bichette single in the sixth, four innings after Massey’s homer.
Jose Berrios (4-2) allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings, striking out three batters.
Berrios only needed six pitches in the first inning.
In the next inning, Salvador Perez singled and Massey followed up with his first home run this season.
In the sixth, singles from Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Vladimir Guerrero set the stage for Bichette, who took an 11e point produced this season.
Chris Bassitt (2-4) will start for the Jays on Wednesday, starting at 3:07 p.m. His opponent will be Seth Lugo (4-1).
