Michael Jordan to Donate $10 Million to Make-A-Wish Foundation

(Los Angeles) Former NBA superstar Michael Jordan announced on Wednesday that he will, on the occasion of his 60e anniversary Friday, a $10 million donation to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

This sum will be the largest collected by this association, based for 43 years in Arizona, whose goal is to fulfill the wishes of children aged 2 to 18 suffering from a serious illness. The six-time champion with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, now a billionaire and owner of the Charlotte Hornets, has worked with her since 1989.

“For the past 34 years, it has been an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and help bring smiles and happiness to so many children,” Jordan said in a statement. “Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a difficult time in their lives has been truly inspiring. I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of seeing their wish come true. »

Make-A-Wish reported that Jordan granted “hundreds” of wishes from children around the world. “Everyone knows about Michael Jordan’s legacy on the basketball court, but it’s what he always did off the court, when no one was paying attention to, that makes him a true legend for the families and community of Make-A-Wish,” wrote its executive director Leslie Motter.
