Michael Douglas is a regular at the Deauville American Film Festival. This is the fifth time he will walk its red carpet. This time as guest of honor. The festival will take place from September 6 to 15.

The actor has already been celebrated for his career in France, most recently in May 2023 at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where he was awarded an honorary Palme d’Or for his multiple films. The Deauville American Film Festival is another stop. “Everyone says that the Deauville Festival is special, but few people can say like me that it changed their lives”Michael Douglas said a few years ago. There, in 1998, he met his wife, the actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Eleven years after his last participation in My Life with Liberace by Steven Soderbergh, “As the American Film Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary, Michael Douglas had to return to Normandy for a fifth time to recall what the name Douglas has brought to the 7th art”the organizers emphasize.

In 2020, the actor also went to the festival but this time to honor the memory of his father, Kirk Douglas (1916-2020). “As he had so well recalled” SO, “When the memory of his father Kirk, the last legend of the golden age of Hollywood who had passed away a few months earlier, was celebrated in Deauville, the name Douglas left a deep mark on the minds of the Norman city” where several places bear his name, the organizers recall.
