(Miami) Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealander Erin Routliffe lost in the doubles final at the Miami tournament, losing 4-6, 7-6 (5), 11-9 against Americans Sofia Kenin and Bethanie Mattek- Sands, Sunday.
After winning the first set, the Ontarian and her partner faced a 5-1 deficit in the second set.
They still managed to force a tiebreaker, but fell behind 5-1 in that one as well, only to concede 7-5.
In the final set, played as a 10-point tiebreaker, with a two-point difference, Kenin and Mattek-Sands led 8-4 before seeing Dabrowski and Routliffe level at 9-9.
The Americans, however, won the next two points to win the title.
Kenin and Mattek-Sands were in the main draw after another team had to withdraw.
Dabrowski and Routliffe were the second seeds.
It was their first final since the duo won the US Open title in September.
