Miami Dolphins | QB Tua Tagovailoa’s name placed on injured reserve

(Miami) The Miami Dolphins will place Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve after the quarterback was diagnosed with a concussion, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press Tuesday.

The person asked not to be named because the team had not yet announced its decision. Tagovailoa will miss at least four games.

Tagovailoa was injured in the third quarter of Thursday’s game against the Buffalo Bills when he collided with defensive back Damar Hamlin. He earned a first down on a run and initiated contact by lowering his shoulder rather than sliding.

Players from both teams reported Tagovailoa’s injury. As he lay on the turf, the quarterback showed signs typically associated with head trauma. He remained on the field for a few minutes, got up and walked to the sideline.

Tagovailoa began the process of consulting with neurologists this week about his health. He was diagnosed with two concussions in 2022 and another while playing in the NCAA.
