Miami Dolphins | QB Tua Tagovailoa Suffers Concussion

(Miami) Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left the game Thursday night with a concussion in the third quarter against the Bills in a 31-10 win by Buffalo.

He collided at high speed with Bills safety Damar Hamlin and hit his head on the turf.

The 26-year-old Hawaii native has suffered at least two concussions in 2022. He also had the same diagnosis once with Alabama in the NCAA.

This time, he was injured holding the ball for a fourth-down run with about 4:30 left in the third quarter.

He went straight toward Hamlin and didn’t slide, leading with his right shoulder.

Once on the ground, his body language indicated that something was wrong.

Bills players pointed to him to signal an injury. Dolphins center Aaron Brewer also gestured toward the sideline.

The quarterback remained on the ground for about two minutes before getting up and heading to the sidelines.

He headed down the tunnel shortly after, then headed toward the Dolphins’ locker room.

Tagovailoa avoided injury last year, putting together a stellar campaign. He completed 29 passes and led the NFL with 4,624 passing yards.

He signed a four-year, $212 million contract extension ahead of the current season.

In Week 1, he led all quarterbacks in passing yards.

Tagovailoa left with the Bills leading 31-10. He was replaced by Skylar Thompson.

Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest after making a tackle in January 2023 during a game in Cincinnati.

James Cook was the star for the Bills on Thursday, catching a touchdown pass and rushing twice to the end zone.

Josh Allen was quiet with 139 yards passing on a 13-for-19 night.
