(Ciudad Victoria) At least six people, including three members of the security forces, were killed in two armed clashes in the state of Tamaulipas, in northeastern Mexico, the local government announced on Saturday.
The first clash took place Friday afternoon in Abasolo, in the center of the state. Three individuals were killed after shooting at members of the state police, the Tamaulipas security services said in a statement.
The second shooting took place early Saturday morning, also in Abasolo, apparently in retaliation for the first incident. Gunmen attacked the hotel where members of the security forces were staying, killing two soldiers and a policeman.
Bordering the United States, the state of Tamaulipas is regularly the scene of acts of violence perpetrated by criminal gangs dedicated to drug or human trafficking.
