The Crown Prince, 48, looked absolutely radiant alongside his wife, Princess Mette-Marit, whom he married in 2001 when she was already the mother of a baby boy, Marius. Both then became parents to a daughter, Ingrid Alexandra, 18, heir to her father, and a boy, Sverre Magnus, 16.
All three, no doubt taken by their studies, were absent from this official trip and had to stay in the Oslo region, where the family has lived for many years. Not enough to bother their parents, who then visited the Svalbard library and learned about the climate change that puts the archipelago in danger. They then continued with a center for young people, two places in which they were able to meet many children.
That same evening, the couple attended a reception at the governor of the region. If Prince Haakon was dressed in a completely classic costume, Mette-Marit had decided to dress in the traditional Norwegian dress, the bunad, a long dress whose details depend on the region of Norway. A shawl over her shoulders, she then clinked glasses during the evening, smiling behind big glasses, her blond hair down her back.
Their journey should continue for two more days, meeting the inhabitants of this very remote region of their country. Very committed, the crown prince and his wife have an important role and popularity in Norway. Not long ago, they had attended a mass in honor of Ukraine, just after celebrating the 18 years of their daughter.
The young princess, future Queen of Norway, had received an expensive tiara for the occasion, which she will unveil to the public in June during an official ceremony.
