The parent company of Météomédia confirmed on Tuesday that it had been affected by a “cybersecurity incident” which caused an outage on some of its data systems.
In a statement, Pelmorex Corporation explained that the incident was linked to a “third-party software provider.”
The system outage appears to have started Tuesday morning. At the very end of the evening, the Météomédia site still seemed to be experiencing technical difficulties and was not displaying the forecasts correctly.
“Canadians can expect some of our services to be restored in the coming hours with full recovery as soon as possible,” Meteomedia reported on X Tuesday evening.
The Weather Network, the English-speaking arm of Météomedia, was also affected by this outage.
“Relevant authorities have been informed of this incident. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this incident may have caused,” added Météomédia on social networks.
