The risk of forest fires is “very high” in the Pyrénées-Orientales department for the day of Saturday August 24, announcement Météo-France. The meteorological agency also warns of a risk “pupil” fires in two other departments: Drôme and Vaucluse.
“This is the first time in the summer of 2024 that the red level [danger de feux très élevé] is reached”explains the institute. “It is therefore essential to adopt the right reflexes”alerts the institute and asks everyone to “throw cigarette butts in an ashtray, do your work away from vegetation, organize barbecues at home on a terrace and away from vegetation” to limit the risk of fire starting.
