Météo-France extends its orange vigilance to Meurthe-et-Moselle and the Vosges due to the risk of flooding

Four departments have been placed on orange alert due to the risk of flooding and heavy rain, according to the latest Météo-France bulletin published Friday May 17 at 10 a.m. Meurthe-et-Moselle and the Vosges are placed on orange “flood” alert while Moselle and Bas-Rhin remain on orange “rain-flood” alert.

“Since Thursday evening, a rainy episode, very occasionally stormy, has developed over a small northeastern portion of the country”specifies Météo-France. “The rains continue for part of this Friday. Eastern Moselle and Bas-Rhin are the most exposed sectors”warns the forecasting institute.

In its bulletin, Météo-France adds that “the expected quantities of water are of the order of 50 to 90 mm” emphasizing that “these are values ​​close to records for daily rainfall totals for these regions”.
