Météo-France calls for “caution” due to the risk of icy conditions

Météo-France maintains orange “snow-ice” vigilance in seven departments, Wednesday January 10. It is Manche, Calvados, Orne, Eure, Eure-et-Loir, Yvelines and Essonne. “From Normandy to the west of Ile-de-France, (…) the soils will remain frozen with persistent patches of ice”specifies the meteorological agency, which calls for “be careful when traveling”. Orange vigilance lifted in the Alps. During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the meteorological agency lifted the snow and ice alert in Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie.

School transport suspended in Eure-et-Loir. The prefecture suspended school transport throughout the department on Wednesday, and also limited the movement of heavy goods vehicles: “vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes are not authorized to carry out overtaking maneuvers, and their maximum authorized speed has been lowered by 20km/h” on national roads.

An expected peak in electricity consumption. RTE, the high voltage network manager, expects the first consumption peak of the year on Wednesday. “Everything is going to be fine,” promised the Minister of Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher on Monday. “We have a lot of electricity that we produce, and we have so much that we export.”
