In the midst of a migratory crisis, the Pope François began a tour of Cyprus on Thursday 2 December. He gives a mass on Friday morning in the capital of this Mediterranean island, Nicosia.

In front of some 7,000 people, Pope Francis will give a mass in Nicosia (Cyprus) Friday, December 3, with a message of peace first for the Middle East. A thousand Lebanese will attend mass. The Sovereign Pontiff will also have a message of unity in favor of Cyprus, an island divided with a southern part recognized by the international community and a northern part occupied by the troops Turkish since 1974.

In addition, there are at least 10,000 migrants in Cyprus. The Pope will meet them on Friday afternoon to bring a message of fraternity and about fifty of them should return with him and obtain from the Vatican the right of asylum in Italy. François had already had this gesture in 2016 during his visit to the Greek island of Lesbos, recalls live from Nicosia on Friday morning, Alban Micokzy, the special envoy of France Télévisions.
