What a mess and what negligence, and this, for several years with regard to the administration and operation of the ski resort of Mont-Sainte-Anne. There have been several accidents in recent years due to dilapidated and poorly maintained equipment, and we could have died last Saturday… What is the government waiting for to take over the reins by canceling the contract/lease (as we have done for some oil companies in eastern Quebec)?
Avoidable accidents, caused by faulty maintenance and the lack of chronic investment, a deplorable situation for this main winter attraction of the region which can attract so many tourists and spin-offs. The station claims that it has “invested” 1.5 million over the past two years… Ridiculous and it is only to repair worn or finished equipment; unrivaled with other well run resorts.
The owner RCR (Resort of the Canadian Rockies, which I nicknamed “Return the Cash in the Rockies” a decade ago) must be removed by the government immediately for security reasons and loss of reputation for many years.
The region has a superb mountain and a four-season activity park (skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking, paragliding, hiking, etc.), but this one is completely neglected… and dangerous! It’s time to take a big shot, Mr. Fitzgibbon.
