“All in all, I’m happy with my day. A 11and place, it’s not bad, especially after a season with ups and downs. I skied really well and managed to attack like I like to do. I made mistakes that still cost a lot, that’s why I lost a little time, ”she explained, in an interview with Sportcom from the French Alps.
St-Germain was at 13and rank after the first run and it was important for her to improve this ranking on her second run. The skier from Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges worked hard to get the ninth fastest time in the final round, which pushed her up two places in the final standings.
“I was trying to get myself into the top 10 during the second run and it came very close to happening. I managed to come back up partly because a few athletes fell on the second run, but I think I skied well. I earned my ranking. »
At 15and rank early in the day, Ontarian Ali Nullmeyer had an impressive second run. She had the best time of this run and she moved up to sixth place.
“All my teammates have been very good. Ali even passed me in the second run. We have a very strong team at the moment with very good young people. It’s interesting for me to train with them, it forces me to surpass myself, ”she rejoiced.
Slovenian Andreja Slokar also had a good end to the day to secure the gold medal. German Lena Duerr (+0.48 seconds) and Slovak Petra Vlhova (+0.81 seconds) finished second and third.
With this bronze medal, Vlhova ensured to finish at the top of the general classification in slalom ahead of her American rival Mikaela Shiffrin, eighth of the day (+1.48 seconds).
With the season now over, Laurence St-Germain will enjoy a well-deserved vacation before focusing on her summer training upon her return to Quebec.
