The event would have occurred a little after 3 p.m., at the corner of Morgan Avenue and Sainte-Catherine Street, near Morgan Park. No fewer than 200 people gathered to witness the astronomical phenomenon.
The two girls, aged 11 and 9, were involved in a collision with a vehicle traveling at “very low speed,” said Sabrina Gauthier, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).
“The driver said she did not see them come out of the crowd to cross the street at the pedestrian area. We do not know if the pedestrian space had priority for pedestrians or not,” she mentioned.
The girls, who were accompanied by their father, were thrown to the ground. They told the police on site that they did not feel any pain.
The paramedics transported them, as a precaution, to a hospital center in “non-urgent” mode.
“Luckily, these are minor traumas,” reported Jean-François Charest, spokesperson for Urgences-santé.
