The police received a call Saturday around 8:30 a.m. reporting a collision between a vehicle and a convenience store in the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, at the intersection of Sherbrooke and Ormeaux streets.

For reasons still unknown, the driver of the vehicle would have rushed into the business. His death was confirmed at the scene.

Another person was transported to a hospital in critical condition, said the Montreal Police Service. Authorities say it was a pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle.

An investigation is currently underway. A security perimeter has been established on Sherbrooke Street between Honoré-Beaugrand Street and Joffre Street.
