(Montreal) A man was physically assaulted by three people on Saturday evening, in the Montreal borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, reports the Service de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). The victim is currently in critical condition in a hospital.

The event occurred around 8:40 p.m. on rue Louis-Veuillot near rue Lacordaire. When the police arrived on the scene, they spotted a 29-year-old man with serious upper body injuries. He was unconscious when taken to hospital.
“Three suspects allegedly used physical force to assault the victim and then fled in a vehicle before the police arrived,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.
A perimeter has been set up so that the investigators and forensic identification technicians can analyze the scene and can better understand the circumstances surrounding this attack. Witnesses were also interviewed by the police.
For the moment, the SPVM has not made any arrests. The investigation is continuing.
