Mercier–Hochela-Maisonneuve | A conflict between teenagers escalates, a parent rushes into a man with his car

A conflict between teenagers degenerated Friday evening in Montreal to the point where parents got involved, one of them rushing into his rival with his car.

The police first received a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. for a “conflict between teenagers” not far from the intersection of rue Notre-Dame Est and avenue Lebrun, in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

Upon arriving on scene, officers located a 37-year-old man with significant injuries. Transported to hospital, his life was no longer feared on Saturday morning.

According to initial information gathered from numerous witnesses, a conflict between teenagers degenerated to the point where the parent of one of the young people showed up on the spot. He then allegedly physically attacked one of the 15-year-old teenagers who was also transported to a hospital.

Then another parent, a 34-year-old man, allegedly responded by ramming his car into the 37-year-old man. Arrested by the police, he was still being met by investigators on Saturday and could be accused of armed assault.

The security perimeter established on the premises was lifted on Saturday morning. The police continue to meet with the numerous witnesses who attended the event and will also view surveillance cameras which would have captured the scene, indicated a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Julien Lévesque.
