The Canadian men’s ice hockey team found measure at its feet, on the night of Friday to Saturday at the Beijing Olympics, it which was defeated 4 to 2 by the American formation.
The Canadians had started the match well. Only 84 seconds had passed when Mat Robinson gave the team a 1-0 lead.
The Americans, however, replied with three unanswerable goals. Barely 70 seconds after Robinson’s success, Andy Miele tied the game. Then, just before the end of the first twenty, Ben Meyers allowed his team to retreat to the locker room with a priority of one goal. The hope of the Montreal Canadiens has also amassed an assist on this net, his sixth point of the Olympic tournament already.
Upon their return to the icy surface, the Americans continued their work by hitting the target through Brendan Brisson. Kenny Agostino was the other scorer for the United States team, which also obtained a second victory in as many games.
Corban Knight scored the other goal for the Canadians, who led 37 pucks past Strauss Mann’s net. At the other end of the rink, Eddie Pasquale blocked 23 of 27 opposing attempts in the loss.
Head coach Claude Julien’s men now have one win and one loss after two games. They will play their last match of the qualifying phase on Sunday morning, against the Chinese.
