Mélissa Theuriau looks back on her difficult childhood with a “drug addict brother”

On January 19, in an interview with Psychologies Magazine, Mélissa Theuriau has lifted the veil on the solid couple she forms with Jamel Debbouze, of course, but also on what made her suffer in her childhood… And the situation of Dimitri, her brother, who has long been plagued by addictions, gave him a lot of strength.

“I had a drug addict brother”

This is what she explains to our colleagues, revealing: “I had a drug-addicted brother, and that really damaged my parents, who were already fragile as a couple”. In fact, she recalled:When I arrived in Paris, I was nobody, I could have needed help, but I didn’t even think about it: the important thing was that my brother didn’t die, that my mother held standing”.
And though she had a few misadventures in middle school – she felt “excluded” and “unhappy” for years, Mélissa Theuriau also explains that outside of school, she has “not been damaged”. Lila and Léon’s mother even assures “At home, I was even happy, it’s a crazy luck in my construction!”

Unfortunately, it was not so simple for her brother … Mélissa Theuriau indeed assures: “My brother suffered more. Me, faced with his deep fragility, I felt very guilty: why him and not me? And why does my mother have to go through all this? And why does no one help us? Growing up next to loved ones who are suffering generates a concern that never completely leaves you”she also said.

Jamel Debbouze collaborated with his brother-in-law

And finally, Dimitri’s ailments now seem to be ancient history. Indeed, last July, on the occasion of the 10th edition of the Marrakesh of laughterJamel Debbouze announced to Le Parisien the upcoming arrival of a “incredible project that we are carrying out with Dimitri Theuriau, my brother-in-law”. And to promise: “Our goal is to compete with the Rio carnival. I know, it may sound pretentious”.
