For the health column on 20 Heures, Saturday September 28, columnist and doctor Jimmy Mohamed gives advice on how to fall asleep better.

Is melatonin a sleep friend? Yes, according to doctor Jimmy Mohamed, who prefers “that the French take melatonin rather than anxiolytics or sleeping pills to sleep”. Because unlike medications, “Melatonin has few or no side effects”even if it is not a “miracle product” against problems falling asleep.

The temperature is also an important factor: in a room, it must be “18-19°C at the maximum”because “body temperature varies throughout the day”explains Jimmy Mohamed. Wearing socks to sleep also helps promote blood circulation. Other useful tools: a mask to protect yourself from light, and a weighted blanket, which presses on the muscles “leads to the production of oxytocin”then melatonin. French researchers have also developed a light that does not block melatonin even if you get up during the night.
