Mel Brooks’ Producers in Montreal in 2024

The producersthe most awarded show in Broadway history, will finally be presented in Montreal in 2024.


The version presented in Quebec will once again be defended by Serge Postigo, who played the lead role of Max Bialystock some 380 times in France, attracting 300,000 spectators and winning two Molière prizes, making the musical comedy one of the great successes of 2022 in France. The Quebec actor will also direct, translate and adapt the play for the public here.

The musical, which tells the story of a Broadway producer on the verge of bankruptcy, will be based on the work of 24 artists, including six musicians. Moreover, it is this Tuesday that the call for auditions opens to find the artists who will play the different roles. Performers as well as dancers who wish to take part are invited to submit their application by September 26 by completing the registration form available on the website lesproducteurs.ca. There is also a description of the different characters. Led by Serge Postigo, the auditions are open to all.

As for the dates of the Quebec performances, they will be revealed on Friday, September 29, as will the details of the sale of tickets.

Originally a film for which Mel Brooks won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1969, the musical The Producers was adapted for the stage by the director in 2001. It ran for six years, garnering 12 Tony Awards, making it still the most awarded musical in Broadway history.
