Meghan Markle: Terrifying anecdote about Archie and new criticism of the royal family

On the occasion of the first episode of his new podcast Archetypes, Meghan Markle confided in the fire she experienced in South Africa as well as her relationship with the royal family during an interview with Serena Williams, who recently announced that she would soon be retiring. The Duchess of Sussex remembered the day when her son was in great danger when he was only four and a half months old. While she was in South Africa for an official trip with Prince Harry and their baby boy, she explains that the latter was “deposited in this accommodation where [ils étaient] lodged and he was getting ready for his siesta“.

Forced to stay by the royal family?

She then left with her husband to ensure the first commitment of their journey. It wasn’t until they were in the car, on their way back from their date, that they heard the terrible news. “There was a fire at the residence. There was a fire in the baby’s room“, we announced on the phone. More fear than harm finally for the couple since their baby Archie was safe and sound. “She (the nanny) was supposed to put Archie straight down for his nap, but she eventually took him downstairs to get a snack“, confided the pretty brunette, explaining that her son was therefore not in the room when the fire broke out.

Above all, she revealed that royal aides forced her to continue her tour despite the incident which left her in tears. A moment that she is not ready to forget and which should not help her to ease her tensions with the rest of the royal family. She also took advantage of this interview to discuss the difficulty for a woman today to be ambitious without being criticized. A subject that takes on its full meaning when we learn that the title of this first episode is called “The Misconception of Ambition“. She explained that this notion of ambition”comes with a lot of judgment and nuance, especially for women“.
