At the age of 85, cinema legend Francis Ford Coppola is back in action. On the red carpet of the Deauville American Film Festival on Tuesday, September 24, the filmmaker came to defend the film of a lifetime: Megalopolis. His latest crazy bet of 120 million dollars, and 300 different versions of the same scenario.
In this wildly ambitious fable, a visionary architect pits himself against a corrupt mayor. It’s one of the most anticipated films of 2024. Because with hits like Dracula Or Apocalypse NowFrancis Ford Coppola remains the “Godfather” of American cinema. With this futuristic epic filled with ancient references, the director still takes all the risks. “In cinema, risk is essential”he assumes. He financed the project himself, even if it meant mortgaging part of his Californian vineyards.
