Megalopolis, by Francis Ford Coppola, will be released on September 27

Launched at the Cannes Film Festival, MegalopolisFrancis Ford Coppola’s ambitious film that he himself financed, will arrive in theaters on September 27 through the distributor Lionsgate.


The director of the trilogy The Godfather and D’Apocalypse Now simmered this project for 45 years. Now aged 85, he invested 120 million to make it a reality.

The result, however, divided critics. Our columnist Marc Cassivi described the work as a “Roman chariot accident”.

Starring Adam Driver (House of Gucci, Marriage Story) in the role of the architect Cesar Catilina, Megalopolis takes place in a futuristic metropolis called New Rome. Following a disaster which ravaged the city, he wishes to make it a utopia.

The film has a brilliant cast including Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight and Laurence Fishburne.
