“My team ate a volley! The pandemic caused us to lose almost all of our employees. It was hard, but we managed to stay in service by becoming the HQ of the vaccination clinics for Chaudière-Appalaches. In June, we had to refuse events, for lack of employees. The good news is that we have just hired 10 people in different departments,” explains Andrée Gilbert, director of business development and strategic alliances at the Lévis convention center.

Fear of restrictions

According to her, Lévis convention center will host at least 50 events (bringing together 15 to 800 people) by December. “What scares us are the capacity decrees, the wearing of compulsory masks, etc. We want there to be no restrictions. »

Lévis convention center has several strings to its bow, says Mme Gilbert. Located along Highway 20, the place is very easy to access and has a huge free parking lot of 500 spaces. Adjoining the 150-room Marriott Four Points hotel, the Lévis convention center has 22 meeting rooms on two floors, including a huge ballroom.

The economic boom that Lévis is experiencing favors the current construction of a 150-room Times chain hotel, a stone’s throw from the Lévis convention center facilities.

When you want to attract congresses, one of the criteria sought is the nights that we can offer. This new hotel will add accommodation capacity.

Marie-Josée Morency, Executive Vice-President and General Manager of the Greater Lévis Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The organization, which will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2023, is a regular at the Lévis convention center. “We are neighbors and we were their first big client, explains Mr.me Morency. They are creative and attentive to their customers. We like working with them, because they are open. That’s what we’re looking for. »

Well-kept secret

With its two restaurants, its indoor climbing center, its spa, its golf simulator and its artificial lake, in particular, the Hôtel du Domaine and Thetford Convention Center is also in recovery mode.

“We had an exceptional spring and we will have one of our best autumns. We have achieved our annual objectives. People were eager to start doing activities again and it shows, ”explains Sarah Villeneuve, sales manager of the 88-room establishment, including 56 suites.

Built in 2016, the complex was built on the edge of an artificial lake whose water takes on an exceptionally blue color thanks to the type of rock (serpentine) that lines the bottom and sides of the body of water. The non-motorized boats present in summer give way to ice fishing and an ice rink during the cold season.
