While many French people plan to go to the polls on Sunday June 30 for the first round of the legislative elections, many do not feel represented. This is the case for residents of Nièvre, who do not find themselves in the political offer.

On the left as on the right, among certain voters, no candidacy arouses support for the early legislative elections. In Nevers, the largest city in Nièvre, abstention was already high in the European elections with 54% of non-voters. “I don’t want to vote (…), people vote, but nothing happens”, believes Ludovic Thoré, a warehouse worker who abstained from the last elections, and still does not intend to go to the polls on Sunday June 30.

There will probably be fewer abstainers for these legislative elections. Many will remobilize, like a student who did not vote in the European elections: “I think it’s important to vote, even if our vote is not going to be considered,” he explains. Another will also return to voting, after having abstained since the last presidential election, but he is not in any party. This is the case for many voters, as in Cosne-sur-Loire (Nièvre), where residents will vote without much conviction.
