meeting with Victoria Abril, back on the boards

Victoria Abril is currently starring in the play funny kind at the Antoine theater (Paris), in which she plays a transsexual. “It’s a couple in love, which explodes because of the prostate”, she summarizes. “It’s a social theme, identity, but it’s a kind of ode, a call for tolerance”adds the actress, qualifying the play “from factory to happiness”.

A new career in music and film

She also looks back on her dual career, in France and Spain. “In Spain I am a dramatic actress, I started at 14, I did mostly dramas. And in France I started my comedy career”, explains Victoria Abril. After having chained the roles in all registers in the cinema, she turned to music and theater in her forties. “Instead of becoming embittered because more work, I became the happiest woman in the Northern Hemisphere”she concludes.
