Franceinfo met the authors of the book A story of them in the 20th century”, Christiane Lavaquerie-Klein and Laurence Paix-Rusterholtz. Exchanges around the place of women in society.

Christiane Lavaquerie-Klein and Laurence Paix-Rusterholtz form a duo of writers united by a common passion for culture, youth and women. In “A History of Elle in the Twentieth Century”they recall the struggles of women for their rights. “The enormity of the wall in front of which our mothers, our grandmothers were, it’s incredible. Really, in all aspects of their lives, there were only roadblocks, at one time”says Christiane Lavaquerie-Klein.

Women did not have access to the baccalaureate until 1919. However, like men, they did not have access to Latin, but took courses in housekeeping. Today, Laurence Paix-Rusterholtz “hope that [sa] girl and [ses] grandchildren will get rid” barriers of society. Christiane Lavaquerie-Klein is concerned about violence against women, “a dreadful and daily subject”but also “injunctions that weigh on the body of women”. “We find it difficult to admit that it belongs to us and that we can do with it what we want”she says. “Which proves that society is still a masculine society”continues his accomplice.
