Music: meeting with Olivia Ruiz on the occasion of the release of her new album, “La replie”
Singer Olivia Ruiz has been part of the French music scene for almost 20 years. She received the teams from France 2’s 1 p.m. show in her neighborhood, Montmartre, in Paris, on the occasion of the release of her new album, “The Reply.”
It had been eight years since she had released an album. A busy break for Olivia Ruiz, who has written two novels, created a dance show, a musical and even made films. She now lives in Montmartre (Paris), for “village spirit”, she says. “I grew up in a village of 600 inhabitants, and I found that here”explains the artist.
Songs in Spanish
In his new album with Latin sounds, Spanish is featured alongside French. “When I sing in French, I feel like I’m singing alone, and when I sing in Spanish, I feel like there are 1,000 of us“, confides the singer. In his family, Spain was an injury, almost a taboo. “Probably because the exile had been too painful. So the better it goes, the more I make it my own and the less I have complexes about using it.” assures Olivia Ruiz today.
