Disarmingly simple, Hafsia Herzi is a demanding artist. Born in the northern districts of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), she was revealed in The grain and the mule, by Abdellatif Kechiche, 17 years ago. She has since continued her path off the beaten track. She is now on display in Borgo, the name of a Corsican prison. Inspired by a news item, the story tells how a prison guard gets caught up in the Corsican mafia.

“I tell myself that I could have been in his place. I like to identify with the characters. Borgo, I said to Stéphane Demoustier, the director: listen, I absolutely have to go meet the guards, the inmates. It was very important”, she confides. The actress says she finds herself in arthouse films and appreciates the “somewhat complex characters” and the “challenges”. “Afterwards, it’s certain that I don’t receive big comedies”affirms the one who says her only coquetry is a “mascara for white hair”.
