Conservative leader Éric Duhaime came out with “good news” from his meeting with Premier François Legault.
The construction of the two private mini-hospitals promised by the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) will be done “quickly”, Mr. Legault told him.
These private establishments, where care would be paid for by health insurance as in a public hospital, will emerge in the east of Montreal and in Quebec. Giving more space to the private health sector, “this is a point of convergence that our party has with the CAQ”, underlined Éric Duhaime on Tuesday.
However, he tried in vain to convince Mr. Legault to reconsider his decision to put an end to the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons. “We are not necessarily against the construction of new dams, but in the short term, what must be done is to exploit natural gas,” he pleaded.
Mr. Legault indicated that he intended to meet him “periodically”, even if his party is not represented in the National Assembly. The Prime Minister is meeting with the leaders of the opposition parties in turn this week.
