Judo: meeting with Central African athletes who train in France thanks to the Olympic Solidarity scholarship

(France 2)

France Télévisions met two judokas from the Central African Republic who have been training in France for a year, thanks to the Olympic Solidarity scholarship. A total of 12 athletes from Africa were selected by the International Olympic Committee.

For a year, 12 athletes from Africa, selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), have been training in Petit-Couronne (Seine-Maritime) in the facilities of a regional branch of Insep. They come from all over Africa, and they benefit from an Olympic Solidarity scholarship. A scholarship that allows them to be accommodated and fed, but above all to train in beautiful sports facilities “with high-level coaches”specifies journalist Samuel Ollivier, present on the set of 8 Heures, Wednesday April 3.

“At home, we don’t have enough equipment to train”

The France Télévisions teams met Jason Zacko and Resquin Mongondo, two judokas from the Central African Republic who, for a year, have been discovering France thanks to this scholarship. “At home, we don’t have enough equipment to train. Here, we have a lot of coaches and infrastructure. This allows us to improve our judo and progress”explains Resquin Mongondo. “The goal is to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games”says Jason Zacko.
